RATE YOUR SKIING ABILITY
To determine the release settings of your bindings we use your skier type, height, weight, age, and ski boot sole length. Be sure to provide accurate information; any error may increase your risk of injury. Consult these descriptions to select your classification. Please note that if you have not skied for more than 5 days you should be a type 1 skier.
TYPE I
Skis conservatively Prefer slower speeds Prefer easy, moderate slopes Favor lower than average release settings (Ski binding settings will have less tension, so that the skis will release more easily in case of a fall) Type I settings apply to “entry-level skiers uncertain of their classification”
TYPE II
Skis moderately Prefer a variety of speeds Skis on varied terrain, including most difficult trails All skiers who do not meet all the descriptions of either Type I or III
TYPE III
Skis aggressively Normally skis at high speeds Prefer steeper and more challenging terrain Favor higher than average release settings (Ski binding settings will have more tension, so that the skis are less likely to release)
Snowboard Stance
It is important that we establish what stance you will be on your snowboard before you arrive. This way we can have your board set up and ready to go when you walk in the door.
In snowboarding we use the terms regular or goofy footed. Regular = left foot forward Goofy = right foot forward
If you skateboard or wake board it will be same foot forward on your snowboard that you use for those sports as well. A good test if you are not sure is to do a cartwheel, whichever foot you lead with first will determine your snowboard stance.
